Known problems
Two filter versions
The manual lists two hydraulic charge filter numbers (earlier and later models) and three hydraulic filter cap styles. Check your machine before ordering.
Engine variant changes the oil interval
Bobcat's separate service schedule for S450 to S740 loaders with a Tier 4 Bobcat engine (T4-B-0815) gives engine oil and filter and fuel filter at 500 hours or 12 months, and coolant at 1500 hours / 24 months. The A3NV manual read here gives 250 hours. Check which engine and schedule decal your machine has.
Oil grade
The grade by temperature is on a chart in the handbook. 15W-40, 10W-30 and 30W are the Bobcat grades listed.
Repair guides
- Draining water, replacing the fuel filter and removing air (Bobcat S650) (Easy, 30 minutes): Water in the fuel filter, hard starting, loss of power, or air in the system after the filter was changed or the tank ran dry.
- Hydrostatic drive belt, idler stop and alternator belt (Bobcat S650) (Hard, 2 to 3 hours): Loss of drive or squealing, a frayed or glazed drive belt, belt jumping, or the service schedule calls for an idler stop check. The alternator belt is a maintenance-free pre-tensioned type.
- Wheel nut torque and the lift arm support device (Bobcat S650) (Easy, 30 minutes): Loose wheels, tyre wear, or you need to work under the lift arms. Using a damaged or missing lift arm support can let the arms drop.
The full step-by-step guides are in Farmyard Workshop once you add your telehandler.
