Service jobs and parts

50-hour greasing (boom and axle pivots)

Chassis · every 50 hours

Bobcat names the grease points: every 50 hours the articulation pins, front and rear axle oscillation pivots, boom pivot, lift cylinder, levelling cylinder and the boom wear pads; every 10 hours the tilt cylinder rod end and the attachment carrier pins. Every 500 hours it adds the service brake pedal spring.

Step-by-step
  1. Park on firm level ground with the boom lowered. Apply the parking brake, stop the engine and take the key out.
  2. To grease the boom wear pads, extend the boom only as far as needed with the boom low, then stop the engine. Never stand under a raised boom.
  3. Wipe each nipple and grease the articulation pins, axle oscillation pivots, boom pivot, lift and levelling cylinders.
  4. Apply grease to the wear pads, then retract and lower the boom.
  5. Grease the tilt cylinder rod end and carrier pins as part of the daily checks.

Known problems

Axle oil interval is shorter in hard use

Bobcat sets a maximum of 800 hours for the axle and differential oil, and its later schedule halves axle oil intervals for machines doing over 1,000 hours a year, shared machines and forestry or biogas work.

Genuine hydraulic filters only

Bobcat says use genuine Bobcat elements for the three hydraulic/hydrostatic filters. The first change is due at 50 hours, which is easy to miss on a new machine.

Range change only when stopped

The two-range hydrostatic transmission must be at a standstill to change range, which catches out drivers used to shift-on-the-move machines.

Slow boom at low revs

Testers found the boom sluggish to drop and retract at low engine speed. That is normal for this machine, not a hydraulic fault.
