Daily (8 h) grease and hydraulic leak check
Lubrication · every 8 hours
Bunning's servicing intervals, daily (8 hours): check for hydraulic leaks and damaged hoses; grease the front and rear floor chain shaft bearings (the front finger guard comes off for the front bearings); grease the overrun clutch at the front of the auger gearbox; grease the PTO input drive system (input shaft, cross joints, guard bearings, shear bolt housing, over-running clutch with 5 pumps) and the implement jack top. The summary also lists the hitch eye.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multi-purpose grease | 1 | Half a pump of the gun maximum on sealed bearings | check your handbook |
Step-by-step
- Look over the hydraulic hoses and cylinders for leaks and damage.
- Grease both floor shaft bearings, the overrun clutch and the PTO input points listed above.
- Do not overgrease: it damages the seals.
Tools: Grease gun
Gearbox oil level (floor drive and auger gearboxes)
Gearbox · every 8 hours
The servicing intervals list puts the gearbox oil check in the daily (8 hour) list; the lubrication summary says monthly. Oil should be level with the middle of the sight glass. The auger gearbox must be checked with the spreader unhooked from the tractor on level ground, and the oil takes time to spread, so recheck after 30 to 40 minutes.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gear oil | 1 | EP90 | check your handbook |
Step-by-step
- Park on level ground. For the auger gearbox, unhook from the tractor.
- Check the oil is level with the middle of the sight glass. Top up through the top plug.
- Recheck after 30 to 40 minutes and top up again if needed.
Tools: Funnel, Rag
Weekly (40 h): wheel nuts, sealed bearings, PTO
Chassis · every 40 hours
Bunning weekly list: check and re-torque the wheel nuts, grease all sealed bearings (driveline hanger bearings, 2 or 3 depending on model, and the top auger bearings through the nipples on the right turret) with no more than half a pump, and grease the sliding section of the PTO shaft.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multi-purpose grease | 1 | Half a pump of the gun maximum | check your handbook |
Step-by-step
- Check the wheel nuts and retorque as needed.
- Grease the driveline hanger bearings and top auger bearings sparingly.
- Grease the telescoping part of the PTO shaft.
Tools: Torque wrench, Grease gun
Monthly: apron chain, PTO joints, suspension and brake pivots
Lubrication · every month
Bunning monthly list: apply grease or heavy oil to the apron chain; grease the PTO telescoping section and CV joint (15 pumps); grease the suspension spring bushings each side; grease brake pivot bushings (tandem suspension) and the parking brake lever joint; check and adjust apron chain tension.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multi-purpose grease | 1 | check your handbook | |
| Grease or heavy oil for apron chain | 1 | check your handbook |
Step-by-step
- Grease or oil the apron chain, then check its tension.
- Grease the PTO CV joint with 15 pumps and the telescoping section.

Put waste oil on the floor chains at the end of the spreading season.
