Brake pad check

Brakes · every 10 hours or every month

CFMoto says inspect brake pad thickness every 10 hours, 160 km or monthly. Replace pads under 1.5 mm, or discs under 3.0 mm.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Front brake pad set1Replaces 9AWA-0811A0 (CFMoto dealer catalogue)5HYV-0811A0
Rear brake pad1Replaces 5HY0-0811A0 (CFMoto dealer catalogue)5HYV-0813A0
Step-by-step
  1. Park on level ground, engine off, chock the wheels.
  2. Look at the pad friction material on each caliper. Under 1.5 mm, or disc under 3.0 mm, have your dealer replace them.
  3. Check the brake fluid is above the low mark. A falling level usually means worn pads.
  4. If you remove a wheel, tighten the nuts to 110–120 N·m.

Tools: Torch, Jack and axle stands, Torque wrench (110–120 N·m)

General lubrication

Chassis · every 50 hours or every 3 months

CFMoto says lubricate all fittings, pivots and cables every 50 hours, 800 km or 3 months, and after pressure washing or deep water.

Engine · every 50 hours

CFMoto says inspect the paper air filter before every ride and at 50 hours or 800 km, and replace it if dirty. Do not wash it or blow it out.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Air filter element1For vehicles built from 12 Oct 2020; earlier machines use 5HYV-111130-1D00 (CFMoto dealer catalogue)0JYA-111130-10000
Step-by-step
  1. Stop the engine and lift the cargo box.
  2. Undo the clasp, remove the cover and take out the paper element.
  3. Brush off light dust only. Never wash it or use compressed air. Fit a new one if dirty.
  4. Smear a thin film on the inside of the rubber seal, refit and check the cover seals all round.
  5. Check the hose at the bottom of the housing: if you see water or dirt in it, empty it and clean the housing.

Known problems

Water in the CVT

After deep water, take out the CVT housing drain bolt. If water comes out, CFMoto says have the dealer inspect it; a wet belt slips until dried.

Water in the air box

If you see water or dirt in the check hose under the air filter housing, empty it and dry the housing. CFMoto warns water in the engine can cause hydraulic lock.

Paper air filter cleaned wrongly

Do not wash the paper filter or blow it out with compressed air. Replace it when dirty.

Oil capacity mismatch

The spec table and the oil change page give slightly different oil capacities. Fill to the dipstick, not by volume alone.

Frequent brake checks

CFMoto asks for brake pad checks every 10 hours or monthly. Mud wears pads fast on farm work.
