Engine oil and filter change

Engine · every 500 hours

Clean oil protects the bearings and turbo. The 2007–2013 Axion 850 is listed at 500 hours (TractorData); Claas has since moved Axion engine oil changes to 600 hours on current tractors (Farmers Journal), so use 600 on late tractors and check your handbook. The filter is changed with the oil every time.

Engine oil filter1Sparex lists this Claas number for the Axion 810 to 850 (crosses to Fleetguard LF16243, Hifi SO10044). Check your serial number.6005028743
Step-by-step
  1. Warm the engine, then park on level ground, lower the linkage, loader and any implement to the ground, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
  2. Let it stand a few minutes. Hot oil burns, so wear gloves.
  3. Remove the sump plug and let the oil drain fully.
  4. Remove the filter, check the old seal came off, and wipe the filter head clean.
  5. Oil the new filter seal and fit it hand-tight as marked on the filter.
  6. Refit the plug and fill with the oil your handbook gives, to the full mark.
  7. Run the engine for a minute, check for leaks, stop it and recheck the level.

Tools: Drain tray (25 L), Filter wrench, Spanner for sump plug, Funnel, Rags, Gloves

Transmission and hydraulic oil and filter change

Transmission · every 1,200 hours

Claas has moved current Axion transmission and hydraulic oil changes to 1,200 hours (Farmers Journal on the 2022 Axion 850 Cmatic). Earlier tractors may be shorter, so check your handbook. Grade and quantity: check your handbook. The filters are always changed with the oil.
