Engine oil and filter change

Engine · every 600 hours

Clean oil protects the bearings and turbo. Claas gives a 600-hour engine oil change for the Axion 900 range. The filter is changed with the oil every time. Grade and quantity: check your handbook.

Engine oil filter1Genuine Claas number per Sparex S.174361 (Axion 900-950; also 6005031029). Axion 960 not named0011782260
Step-by-step
  1. Warm the engine, then park on level ground, lower the linkage, loader and any implement to the ground, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
  2. Let it stand a few minutes. Hot oil burns, so wear gloves.
  3. Remove the sump plug and let the oil drain fully.
  4. Remove the filter, check the old seal came off, and wipe the filter head clean.
  5. Oil the new filter seal and fit it hand-tight as marked on the filter.
  6. Refit the plug and fill with the oil your handbook gives, to the full mark.
  7. Run the engine for a minute, check for leaks, stop it and recheck the level.

Tools: Drain tray (25 L), Filter wrench, Spanner for sump plug, Funnel, Rags, Gloves

Transmission and hydraulic oil and filter change

Transmission · every 1,200 hours

Claas gives 1,200 hours for the CMATIC transmission and hydraulic oil on the Axion 900. Grade and quantity: check your handbook. The filters are always changed with the oil.
