Engine oil and filter change

Engine · every 300 hours or every year

Every 300 hours or once a year, with the first change at 50 hours. Halve the interval if your diesel has more than 0.5% sulphur. The filter cartridge is changed with the oil (the chart marks both together).

  2. Put the drain tray under the sump, remove the drain plug and let the oil drain fully.
  3. Unscrew the old oil filter, wipe the seat, oil the new filter's seal lightly and fit it. Tighten by hand as the filter says.
  4. Refit the drain plug with a clean washer, then fill with oil up to the top mark on the dipstick.
  5. Run the engine for a minute, stop it, wait a minute and recheck the level and look for leaks.
  6. Take the old oil to a proper disposal point.

Step-by-step
  1. This is a dealer or experienced-mechanic job. Check at the chart's service columns.
  2. Do it on a cold engine, at least two hours after stopping.
  3. Set the clearance to the figure in your handbook and refit the rocker cover with a new gasket.

Tools: Feeler gauges, Socket set, Torque wrench

Transmission, rear axle and hydraulic oil change (with filters)

Transmission · every 1,200 hours or every year

Gearbox oil every 1,200 hours or once a year. The gearbox, steering, lift and spool-valve filters are changed after 150 hours, then when the warning light comes on and in any case at the oil change.
