The lubricant table and the plan give every 50 hours: steering ram (2 x 2), lift rods (2), side stabiliser rods (2), then on 4WD the steering ball joints (2 x 2) and the front axle front and rear bearings (1 each), and on 2WD the axle oscillation cushions and steering pivots. Rear half-shaft bearings are in the plan too.

Engine oil and filter change

Engine · every 300 hours or every year

The service plan says change the engine oil and the oil filter cartridge together at the first 50 hours, then every 300 hours or at least once a year. If the diesel has more than 0.5% sulphur, halve the interval.

Step-by-step
  1. Park on level ground, stop the engine, set the parking brake, lower any implement and take the key out. Warm the engine first, then let it settle. Hot oil burns, so wear gloves.
  2. Put the tray under the sump, undo the drain plug and let all the oil run out.
  3. Unscrew the old filter cartridge and throw it away. Wipe the seat clean.
  4. Smear the new cartridge's seal with clean engine oil and fit it as the handbook says.
  5. Refit the drain plug with a new washer. Fill with the right amount of 15W-40 (6.7 L, 3-cylinder, or 11 L, 4-cylinder, plus about 1 L for the filter) and check the dipstick.
  6. Run the engine for a few minutes, stop it, wait a minute and recheck the level and for leaks.
  7. Take the old oil and filter to a proper disposal point.

Fuel filter change and water drain

Fuel · every 300 hours

The service plan says change the fuel filter every 300 hours and drain the water from the filter at every 50 to 300 hour step.

Hydrostatic steering oil filter

Hydraulics · every 300 hours

The plan has the hydrostatic steering circuit filter replaced after 50 and 150 hours, then every 300 hours and at the oil change. After that first stage, every 300 hours is the figure used here.

Tools: Strap wrench, Drain tray, Shop towels

Brake and clutch fluid level check

Brakes · every 300 hours

The plan has the brake and clutch reservoir levels checked at every 300-hour step and whenever the warning lamp lights. The lubricant table gives a MAX level but no change interval, so no fluid change is scheduled.

Tools: Clean funnel, Rags

Drive belt tension and condition check

Engine · every 300 hours

The plan has the belt checked at every service step (delivery, 50 hours, then every 300 hours).

Valve clearance, injector and pump check (dealer)

Engine · every 900 hours

The plan has the valve clearance checked at delivery and again at 900 and 1,200 hours, the injectors at 900 and 1,200 hours, and the injection pump and starter at 1,200 hours. All dealer jobs. The clearance figure: check your handbook.

Transmission · every 1,200 hours or every year

The lubricant table gives 1,200 hours for the shared transmission, rear axle, lift and steering oil, and the plan says at least once a year. The transmission, lift and auxiliary spool valve filters are replaced after 150 hours, then when the warning lamp lights and at the oil change. The hydrostatic steering filter is done more often, see the next task.

Front axle (4WD) differential and side reduction oil change

Front axle · every 1,200 hours or every year

The lubricant table gives 1,200 hours for the front axle centre housing and the side reduction gears, and the plan says at least once a year. The plan also has the front wheel bearings washed and regreased at 1,200 hours. 4WD models only.

Coolant change

Cooling · every 1,200 hours or every 2 years

Known problems

First service at 50 hours

The plan has the first engine oil and filter and the hydrostatic steering filter at 50 hours, and the transmission and lift filters at 150 hours.

Which Agroplus is yours

The first Agroplus 75/85/95/100 (1998, Deutz 1012 engines) is a different tractor with a 500-hour oil interval; see the deutz-agroplus-75 entry.

Sulphur in the diesel

Halve the engine service intervals if the diesel has more than 0.5% sulphur.
