Service jobs and parts

Engine oil and filter change

Engine · every 500 hours

The Fendt dealer's schedule changes the engine oil, oil filter and drain plug gasket at every 500-hour service. There is no DPF on the SCR-only tractors, so no regeneration is needed first.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Engine oil110W-40 Deutz engine oil (dealer pack 79036470B), 18 L. Check your handbook for the exact Deutz oil specification. Aztec Oils match: EMPROTEC XHPD 10W-40check your handbook

Oil drain plug gasket1M18x24F731200510060
Step-by-step
  1. Park on level ground, lower the linkage, loader and any implement to the ground, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
  2. Let it stand a few minutes. Hot oil burns, and the exhaust is very hot after a regeneration. Wear gloves.
  3. Remove the sump drain plug and let the oil drain fully.
  4. Remove the old oil filter, check the old seal came off with it, and wipe the filter head clean.
  5. Oil the new filter seal and fit the filter as its instructions say.
  6. Fit a new gasket to the drain plug, refit it, and fill with 10W-40 Deutz engine oil to the full mark on the dipstick.
  7. Run the engine for a minute, check for leaks, stop it and recheck the level.

Tools: Drain tray (25 L), Filter wrench, Spanner for sump plug, Funnel, Rags, Gloves

Fuel pre-filter (water separator) change

Fuel · every 500 hours

The dealer schedule lists the fuel pre-filter at every 500-hour service, and says to drain water from it as required. Water in the diesel ruins common-rail injectors.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Fuel pre-filter1F842201060010
Step-by-step
  1. Stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels. Keep naked flames away.
  2. Clean around the pre-filter so dirt cannot get in.
  3. Drain any water into a container, then remove the old filter.
  4. Fit the new filter with a clean, oiled seal, hand-tight.
  5. Prime the system as your handbook describes. Never crack open the high-pressure pipes on a common-rail engine.
  6. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Tools: Container for fuel, Filter wrench, Rags, Gloves

AdBlue (DEF) filter change

Exhaust · every 500 hours

The dealer schedule lists the DEF filter at every 500-hour service. Blocked AdBlue filters cause dosing faults and engine power cuts.

PartQtyNotesPart number
AdBlue (DEF) filter1Supersedes 02934690 (dealer parts page)ACP0594170
Step-by-step
  1. Stop the engine and take the key out. Wait for the AdBlue system to finish purging after shutdown before opening anything.
  2. Clean around the filter cap so dirt and crystals cannot get in.
  3. Remove the cap and old filter, catching any AdBlue in a container.
  4. Fit the new filter and refit the cap as your handbook says.
  5. Rinse spilt AdBlue off with water; it corrodes metal and electrical connectors.

Tools: Container, Gloves, Eye protection, Clean water

Cab fresh air and recirculation filters

Cab · every 500 hours

The dealer schedule changes both cab filters at every 500-hour service. Clogged filters weaken the air conditioning and let dust into the cab.

Step-by-step
  1. Stop the engine and take the key out.
  2. Open the cab filter covers as your handbook shows.
  3. Take out the old filters, wipe out the housings and fit the new ones.
  4. Refit the covers. Clean the A/C condenser at the same time.

Tools: Screwdriver or Torx driver (check your handbook)

Lubricate all grease points

Chassis · every 500 hours

The dealer schedule lists 'lubricate all grease points' at every service tab, from 500 hours up. It does not list the points. Check your handbook for the grease points and for shorter intervals for the busy ones.

  2. Grease every point your handbook shows, such as the front axle, steering, linkage and PTO shaft, until fresh grease shows.
  3. Wipe off the surplus so it does not collect dirt.
  4. Check for loose hardware, linkages and leaks while you are under there.

Tools: Grease gun, Rags

Main fuel filter change

Fuel · every 1,000 hours

Tools: Container for fuel, Filter wrench, Rags, Gloves

Engine air filter, primary (outer) element

Engine · every 1,000 hours

The dealer schedule replaces the primary air filter at the 1,000-hour service. At 1,500 and 2,500 hours it only checks and cleans the filters (dealer lists 72608874 outer and 72437627 inner for those checks).

PartQtyNotesPart number

Step-by-step
  1. Stop the engine and take the key out. Never run the engine with a filter out.
  2. Open the air cleaner housing and take out the element, taking care not to let dirt fall into the intake.
  3. Wipe the housing out with a damp cloth. Do not blow dirt down the intake.
  4. Fit the new element, check it seats evenly and close the housing.
  5. Check the intake hoses and clips for leaks and clear the filter warning on the terminal if needed.

Tools: Torch, Damp cloth

Engine air filter, secondary (inner) element

Engine · every 1,000 hours

The dealer schedule replaces the secondary (safety) air filter at the 1,000-hour service on the SCR tractors, together with the primary.

Engine belts, idler and tensioner check

Engine · every 1,000 hours

The dealer schedule says to take the belts off and check the idler and tensioner bearings and the belts at the 1,000-hour service, and to check belt condition at the visits in between.

Step-by-step
  1. Stop the engine and take the key out.
  2. Release the tensioner and take the belts off.
  3. Spin the idler and tensioner by hand: they should run smoothly and quietly.
  4. Look for cracks, fraying and glazing on the belts and replace them if worn.
  5. Refit the belts, check the routing and tension, and check the water pump and fan bearings for play and leaks at the weep hole.

Tools: Spanner for tensioner, Torch

Transmission pressure filter change

Transmission · every 1,000 hours

The dealer schedule changes the transmission pressure filter and its O-ring at the 1,000-hour service, in between the oil changes. Clean oil is what keeps the Vario transmission alive.

  4. Run the engine, check the transmission oil level and for leaks.

Tools: Filter wrench, Drain tray, Rags, Gloves

Front axle differential and hub oil change

Front axle · every 1,000 hours

The dealer schedule changes the front axle differential oil and the hub oil at the 1,000-hour service and every 1,000 hours after that. The differential takes 80W-90 gear oil with LS (limited slip) additive.

  5. Do the same on each front hub, one at a time, with new gaskets.
  6. Check for leaks and wipe up spills; oil on the tyres makes them slippery. Check the front axle toe-in at the same time: the schedule gives 0 to 2 mm.

Tools: Drain trays, Socket set, Torque wrench, Oil pump or syringe, Gloves

Hydraulic oil and filters change

  3. Drain the cooling system into a clean tray and fit a new drain plug gasket.
  4. Refill with premixed coolant to the level in your handbook, run the engine to temperature and top up.

Capacity wording

The dealer page lists 123 L for the transmission and 102 L for the hydraulics. Fill to the level marks rather than by quantity.
