Step-by-step
- Run the engine until warm, park level and stop it.
- Drain all the oil, then clean the plug and refit it with a new seal.
- Change the oil filter, lightly oiling its seal and fitting by hand until it seats and then half a turn.
- Fill with the right oil, start the engine and check for leaks.
- Wait 5 minutes and check the dipstick; top up to MAX.

Front axle differential and hub oil change

The service chart changes the front differential and hub drives at 1,000 hours. The lubricants table adds a first change at 250 hours and a 2-year or 2,000-hour repeat. Doing it every 1,000 hours or 2 years keeps to the stricter of the two.

Known problems
Check the engine oil often
The handbook says to top up the engine oil to MAX every 100 hours.
Valve clearance
The service chart lists a valve clearance check and set (inlet and exhaust both 0.5 mm, engine cold) at some services, but the column marks are unclear in the copy I could read. Ask your dealer for the interval, or check your handbook.
Cylinder head bolts
The service chart lists a cylinder head bolt re-tighten (1 × 90° + 10°, engine cold) at one of the early services as a workshop job. Ask your dealer which of your tractor's services includes it.
Existing Favorit 816 Turbo entry
The Favorit 816 Turbo entry on the site is from Eurol's capacity data only. This handbook gives 20.5 L engine oil, 64 L gearbox and 60 L hydraulics for the 816 to 824.

- Fuel filter, water drain and bleeding (Fendt Favorit 816, 818, 822, 824) (Moderate, 1 hour): Won't start after a filter change or running out of fuel, water in the filter, loss of power.
