Daily greasing

Lubrication · every 10 hours

Horsch's lubrication chart puts the packer fixation, RollCut packer adjustment fork, tractor link arm adapter, undercarriage joint, brake and parking brake (and on the 6 FX the safety pin) at every working day. Grease with EP2 grease to DIN 51825 KP/2K-40. Points marked 2x are on both sides.

Step-by-step
  1. Lower the wings, packer and undercarriage to the ground and release hydraulic pressure at the tractor and the machine.
  2. Grease the 4 packer fixation points, the 2–4 RollCut packer adjustment fork points, the 2 tractor link arm adapter points, the 2 undercarriage joint points and the 3 brake and parking brake points.
  3. On the Terrano 6 FX also grease the 4 safety pin points.
  4. Wipe off the excess.

Tines, stone protection, coulters and packer check

Wear parts · every 10 hours

Horsch's overview lists the tines and tine holders, stone release protection, coulters, levelling discs, packer and scrapers for a check on each working day, for condition, firm seating and wear.

Step-by-step
  1. Lower the machine and make it safe before going near the tines.
  2. Check each tine, holder and the stone release protection for wear, damage and a firm fixing.
  3. Check the coulters: the coulter spirals are fitted pointing alternately left and right for mixing, with guide plates left and right. Refit new ones the correct way round.
  4. Check the packer, the packer scrapers and the levelling discs for bearings, wear and fixings.
  5. Check the tyres for condition and pressure (undercarriage 4.5 bar, support wheels 7.1 bar).

Hydraulics, hoses, brakes and lights

Hydraulics · every 10 hours

Horsch says check the hydraulics for leaks and chafing every working day, replace hoses after 6 years, and have the hydraulic system checked by an expert at least yearly.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Hydraulic hoses1Replace at 6 years or if damaged. Check your handbook for numberscheck your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Look over the hoses, fittings and cylinders for leaks, chafing and loose fixings. Never feel for a leak with your hand.
  2. Replace any hose over 6 years old or damaged. The date is stamped as year and month on the hose line and as quarter and year on the hose.
  3. Test the brakes, drain the air reservoir and check the brake lines and hoses for damage or kinks. Clean the brake line filter.
  4. Check the lights, warning boards and stickers.
  5. Have the hydraulic system checked by an expert at least once a year.

Undercarriage wheel bearings grease (every 40 hours)

Lubrication · every 40 hours

Horsch lists the 2 undercarriage wheel points at 40 hours.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Grease1EP2 grease to DIN 51825 KP/2K-40. Aztec Oils match: VOLCATEC LITHIUM EP 2check your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Park on level ground and chock the wheels.
  2. Grease the two undercarriage wheel points.
  3. Check the wheel nuts and tyre pressure at the same time.

Tools: Grease gun

Retighten bolts and wheel nuts

Frame · every 50 hours

Horsch says retighten all screwed and hydraulic connections after the first 10 hours or 50 km, again after the next 10 hours or 50 km, then daily until nothing moves, then before every season and every 50 hours. Settled paint or debris between joints loosens even properly tightened bolts.

Step-by-step
  1. Lower the machine to the ground and make the tractor safe.
  2. Retighten all screw and plug-in connections and the hydraulic connections. Do not oil or grease the bolts: the torque table assumes dry threads.
  3. Wheel nuts: M18 × 1.5 at 300 N·m, M22 × 1.5 at 510 N·m.
  4. Check the frame and frame connection points for firm seating.

Tools: Torque wrench, Socket set

End-of-season care and storage

Storage · every year

Horsch says clean and care for the machine at the end of the season, spray the cylinder rods with corrosion protection, and keep oil off the plastic parts.

Step-by-step
  1. Clean the machine. Keep jets off bearings, cylinders and electrics.
  2. Spray the hydraulic cylinder piston rods with a suitable corrosion protection agent. Do not spray plastic parts with oil.
  3. Check all the tines, coulters, packer discs and scrapers for wear, and order wearing parts before the season.
  4. Grease every point and check the bolts are tight.

Known problems

Coulter direction

The coulters are fitted in a set pattern, pointing alternately for mixing. Refit them the right way round when replacing.

Tightening dry

The torque table is for dry threads. Oil or grease on a bolt means it is over-tightened at the table value.

Daily versus 40 hour points

In the copy I read the table was jumbled, so the pairing of points to intervals is the most likely reading. Check your handbook's chart.
