Service jobs and parts

Greasing all fittings

Chassis · every 50 hours

Iseki says lubricate all grease fittings every 50 hours, and daily in muddy or very wet conditions.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Lithium grease No. 21check your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Park level, lower the linkage, stop the engine and take the key out.
  2. Clean the grease gun nozzle and each fitting before greasing so no dirt is pumped in.
  3. Grease every fitting shown in the handbook's lubrication chart until fresh grease shows, then wipe them clean.

Tools: Grease gun, Rags

Engine oil and filter change

Engine · every 150 hours

Iseki says change the engine oil after the first 50 hours and then every 150 hours, and the oil filter after the first 50 hours and then every 300 hours. Steve's rule is to fit the filter with every oil change, so this job includes it; Iseki's minimum is every second change.

Step-by-step
  1. Park on level ground, lower the linkage, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
  2. Drain the oil while the engine is warm but not hot. Hot oil burns, so wear gloves.
  3. Remove the drain plug, let it drain fully and refit it.
  4. Unscrew the filter and check the old gasket came off with it. Oil the new gasket with clean engine oil, screw the filter on until the gasket touches, then a further half turn.
  5. Refill the crankcase slowly so air can vent, to between the F and L marks on the dipstick.
  6. Start the engine, check for leaks, stop it, let it settle and top up. Check the level only with the engine cool and the tractor level.

Tools: Drain tray (10 L), Spanner for drain plug, Filter wrench, Funnel, Rags, Gloves

Clutch chamber drain and pedal play check

Transmission · every 150 hours

The periodic table lists draining the clutch chamber and checking clutch pedal play every 150 hours, and brake pedal play every 300 hours. The table is hard to read on the copy used, so check it in your handbook.

Step-by-step
  1. Park level, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
  2. Remove the clutch chamber drain plug and let out any water or oil, then refit it.
  3. Check the clutch pedal free play and, every second time, the brake pedal play. Adjust to the figures in your handbook, or ask your dealer.

Tools: Spanners, Rule

Front axle oil level check

Front axle · every 200 hours

Iseki says check the front axle oil level every 200 hours. The front differential and both wheel reduction units share one level.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Front axle oil to top up1SAE 80 GL-4. Aztec Oils match: AGRITEC HP-PROcheck your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Park on level ground and stop the engine.
  2. Most tractors: remove the level plug. Oil should be level with, or just below, the opening. If low, remove the fill plug and add oil until it runs out of the level hole, then refit both plugs.
  3. Early TG5330 (serial 000061–000729) and TG5390 (serial 000146–001025): remove the fill plug; oil should reach the top of the shaft. Top up to there and refit the plug.

Tools: Spanner for plugs, Funnel

Fuel filter element replacement

Fuel · every 300 hours or every year

Check the bowl for water and sediment and clean it as needed. The periodic table's wording gives 'Replace every 300 hours or once a year', which fits the fuel filter row. The table is hard to read on the copy used, so check it in your handbook.

Step-by-step
  1. Stop the engine, take the key out and keep flames away. Turn the fuel valve OFF (handle towards the front).
  2. Loosen the ring nut and take off the sediment bowl and its O-ring. Clean the bowl.
  3. Pull the element down and throw it away. Check the small O-ring in the filter head and replace it if needed.
  4. Push the new element up until it seats, refit the bowl O-ring and nut, tighten it and wipe up any fuel.
  5. Turn the fuel on and bleed the fuel system as the handbook shows. Do not alter the injection pump or injector settings.

Tools: Clean tray, Rags, Container for fuel

Transmission oil and filter change

Transmission · every 300 hours

Iseki says change the transmission oil and filter after the first 50 hours and then every 300 hours. The same oil fills the centre housing, rear axle and hydraulics.

  2. Remove the drain plug and drain the system completely, then refit the plug.
  3. Unscrew the filter, using a filter wrench if needed. Clean the adapter and oil the new filter's seat.
  4. Fit the new filter until the gasket touches the adapter, then a further 2/3 turn by hand. Do not tighten it with a filter wrench. The cartridge contains magnets.
  5. Fill through the filler plug until the oil shows in the level window.
  6. Run the engine briefly, stop it, recheck the window and top up. Check for leaks.

Tools: Large drain tray (40 L), Spanner for drain plug, Filter wrench (for removal only), Funnel or pump, Rags

Front axle oil change

Front axle · every 600 hours

Iseki says change the front axle oil every 600 hours.

Step-by-step
  1. Stop the engine and take the key out. Open the bonnet and remove the left side cover and front grille.
  2. Press the vacuator valve to let dirt out, and wipe any moisture from inside the housing.
  3. Unclip the element and take it out. Dry dust: blow air from the inside out at no more than 200 kPa (30 psi), or tap it gently by hand. Never knock it on anything hard.
  4. Oily or damp dirt: soak about 30 minutes in water with a neutral detergent, rinse and let it dry naturally, without compressed air or heat.
  5. Replace it if the paper, canister or seal is damaged, or after 5 washes. Push the element straight back in so it seats.

Tools: Compressed air (under 200 kPa / 30 psi), Neutral detergent, Rag, Dust mask

Radiator flush and coolant change

Cooling · every 2 years

The periodic table says flush the radiator and replace the coolant once every 2 years.

Known problems

Oil filter every second oil change at minimum

Iseki's oil interval is 150 hours, but the filter is only listed every 300 hours. It is cheap to fit one each time.

Transmission filter has magnets

Hand-tighten it 2/3 turn past contact; never tighten it with a filter wrench.

Serial-number splits on the front axle

Early TG5330 and TG5390 tractors check the axle oil to the top of the shaft through the fill plug, not at a level plug.
