Engine oil and filter change

Engine · every 250 hours or every 3 months

Every 250 hours or 3 months, and the first change at 100 hours on a new engine. The wet-clutch schedule allows 500 hours if you use the recommended oil and the genuine filter; if you cannot get the recommended oil the engine oil must be changed at 250 hours. We use 250 hours because Eurol's table and the dry-clutch schedule agree on it.

Known problems

Check the serial number before buying fluid

Hydraulic tank and gearbox capacities changed part-way through the production run, so look up your serial number in the handbook before filling.

Use the recommended engine oil

If the recommended JCB oil is not available the handbook says the engine oil must be changed at 250 hours.

Hydraulic tank level

The handbook says to watch the level indicator on the hydraulic tank, as the capacity depends on the equipment fitted.
