Engine oil and filter change
Engine · every 250 hours
John Deere says the first change is at 100 hours, then every 250 hours. The 250-hour interval can be extended to 375 hours if Plus-50 oil and a genuine John Deere filter are used.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engine oil | 1 | 15W-40 (10W-30, 5W-40 or 0W-40 in colder weather). Plus-50 II, ≈19 L (7210–7610), ≈24 L (7710, 7810). Aztec Oils match: EMPROTEC EHPD 15W-40 | check your handbook |
| Engine oil filter | 1 | 7210–7610 | RE59754 |

| Engine oil filter | 1 | 7710, 7810 from serial 090000 | RE509672 |
Step-by-step
- Warm the engine, park on level ground, lower the linkage, loader and any implement, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
- Let it stand a few minutes. Hot oil burns, so wear gloves.
- Remove the sump plug and let the oil drain fully.
- Remove the filter, check the old seal came off, and wipe the filter head clean.
- Oil the new filter seal and fit it hand-tight as marked on the filter.
- Refit the plug and fill with Plus-50 II to the full mark.
- Run the engine for a minute, check for leaks, stop it and recheck the level.
Tools: Drain tray (30 L), Filter wrench, Spanner for sump plug, Funnel, Gloves, Rags
Cab fresh-air and recirculation filters
Cab · every 500 hours or every year
John Deere says clean the cab filters after 250 hours and replace them every 500 hours or annually, whichever comes first. The interval varies with conditions.

Tools: Screwdriver, Dust mask
Fuel filters
Fuel · every 750 hours or every year
John Deere says replace the dual fuel filter system (7710, 7810 from serial 090000) every 750 hours or once a year. The sheet lists the other models' fuel filters without an interval, so check your handbook for the 7210–7610.

Step-by-step
- Stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels. Keep naked flames away.
- Clean around both filters before opening anything.
- Drain any water from the primary filter into a container.
- Remove the old filters and fit the new ones with clean seals.
- Prime the system as your handbook describes. Never crack open the high-pressure pipes on a common-rail engine.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
Tools: Container for fuel, Filter wrench, Gloves, Rags
Transmission and hydraulic filters
Transmission · every 750 hours
John Deere says replace the transmission and hydraulic filters after 100 hours at most, then every 750 hours. The sheet gives no oil change interval, so this is a filter-only task.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transmission oil filter | 1 | 7210–7510 PowrQuad: AL221066. 7210–7410 SyncroPlus: AL156624. 7610–7810 PowrQuad/AutoQuad/PowerShift: RE205726 with screen R86516. 7710/7810 IVT: RE161181 | AL221066 |
| Hydraulic oil filter | 1 | PowrQuad, AutoQuad, SyncroPlus: RE205726. IVT: RE161181 | RE205726 |
Step-by-step
- Check your transmission and pump size, then order the right filters.
- Park on level ground, lower the linkage, loader and implements fully, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
- With the engine off, work the spool and linkage controls to relieve hydraulic pressure.
- Let hot oil cool before starting; it burns.
- Clean around each filter, remove it and catch the oil. Fit the new filters with oiled seals.
- Run the engine briefly, stop, check for leaks and top up with Hy-Gard.
Tools: Drain tray, Filter wrench, Gloves, Rags
Engine air filter, primary (outer) element

Step-by-step
- Stop the engine and take the key out. Never run the engine with the filter out.
- Open the housing and take out the primary element. Leave the secondary element in place.
- Wipe the housing out with a damp cloth. Do not blow dirt down the intake.
- Fit the new element, check it seats evenly and close the housing.
Tools: Torch, Damp cloth
Engine air filter, secondary (safety) element
Engine · every year
John Deere says do not clean the secondary filter; replace it annually or with every second or third primary replacement.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Secondary air filter | 1 | 7210–7510: AL78870. 7610: RE34963. 7710, 7810: RE34967 | AL78870 |

- Stop the engine and take the key out.
- Remove the primary element, then the secondary element, without letting dirt fall into the intake.
- Fit the new secondary element straight away, then refit or renew the primary.
- Close the housing and check the clips.
Tools: Torch, Damp cloth
Transmission and hydraulic oil and filter change
Transmission · when needed
John Deere's sheet gives the oil quantities but not the oil change interval, so check your handbook. The filters are always changed with the oil.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hy-Gard oil | 1 | UTTO tractor transmission oil. ≈57–102 L depending on model (see fluids). Aztec Oils match: AGRITEC UTTO | check your handbook |

- Run the machine and check for leaks.
Tools: Spanners or screwdriver, Rags
Coolant replacement
Cooling · when needed
Cool-Gard II protects against liner pitting, corrosion and frost but wears out. John Deere's sheet gives the quantity but not the interval, so check your handbook and test the coolant every year.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cool-Gard II coolant | 1 | ≈19–33 L (see engine) | check your handbook |
