Service jobs and parts
Greasing (six points)
Chassis · every 50 hours
Kubota lists greasing every 50 hours at six points: HST pedal, battery terminals, right lifting rod, top link, knuckle shafts and front axle support.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multipurpose grease | 1 | check your handbook |
Step-by-step
- Park level, lower the linkage, stop the engine and take the key out.
- Wipe each nipple clean and grease the HST (speed control) pedal, right lifting rod, top link, both knuckle shafts and the front axle support.
- Put a light film of grease on the battery terminals.
- Wipe off the excess.
Tools: Grease gun, Rags
Air cleaner element clean
Engine · every 100 hours or every year
Kubota says clean the primary element every 100 hours, and replace it with the secondary element once a year or after six cleanings, whichever comes first.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air cleaner primary (outer) element | 1 | Kubota number as quoted for the B2410 by a filter seller | 6C060-99410 |
| Air cleaner secondary (inner) element | 1 | Kubota number as quoted by a filter seller for the B2410; replace with the primary | 32721-58242 |
Step-by-step
- Stop the engine and take the key out. Never run it with the element out.
- Take off the cover and the primary element. Leave the secondary element in place unless you are replacing it.
- Dry dust: blow air from the inside out while turning the element, keeping the pressure under 686 kPa (99 psi).
- Carbon or oil on it: soak 15 minutes in detergent, wash several times in water, rinse and let it dry naturally. Check it inside with a torch for damage.
- Never oil this dry element. Refit the dust cup with its arrow upright so the evacuator valve works. Open the evacuator valve weekly, or daily in dust.
Tools: Compressed air (under 686 kPa / 99 psi), Torch, Mild detergent, Dust mask
Engine oil and filter change
Engine · every 100 hours
Kubota's chart says change the engine oil every 100 hours and the oil filter every 200 hours, with both done after the first 50 hours. Steve's rule is to fit the filter at every oil change, so this job includes it each time; at the very least it must go on at every second change.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engine oil | 1 | 10W-30 or 10W-40 and others (see the handbook chart). API CC/CD, grade to suit the temperature; B2410 3.0 L, B2710/B2910 4.1 L. Aztec Oils match: EMPROTEC EHPD 10W-30 | check your handbook |
| Engine oil filter (spin-on) | 1 | Kubota number as quoted for the B2410 by a filter seller; a UK genuine-parts dealer shows HH150-32094 superseded by W21ESO1530. Confirm with your dealer | HH150-32094 |
Step-by-step
- Park on level ground, lower the linkage and any implement, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
- Warm the engine for about five minutes first so the oil drains well, then stop it. Hot oil burns, so wear gloves.
- Remove the drain plug, let the oil drain fully and refit the plug.
- Unscrew the old filter. Smear clean oil on the new filter's rubber seal and screw it on by hand only; over-tightening distorts the seal. Use a genuine Kubota filter or its equivalent.
- Fill with new oil to the upper line on the dipstick. If you change brand or grade, drain all the old oil out; never mix two types.
- Run the engine briefly, check for leaks at the filter seal, stop it and top up to the upper line.
Tools: Drain tray (5 L), Spanner for drain plug, Filter wrench, Funnel, Rags, Gloves
Fuel filter clean
Fuel · every 100 hours
Kubota lists cleaning the fuel filter in the 100-hour group. Dirt in the fuel wears the injection pump and nozzles early.
Step-by-step
- Do this in a clean place, not in the field. Stop the engine, take the key out and keep flames away.
- Make sure the tank is less than half full, or fuel can run back from the return pipe when the bowl is off. Close the fuel tap.
- Unscrew the ring, take off the bowl and rinse it and the element in kerosene.
- Refit everything, keeping dust out, open the tap and bleed the fuel system.
Tools: Clean tray, Kerosene (paraffin), Rags
Clutch pedal free travel check
Transmission · every 100 hours
Kubota lists checking clutch pedal free travel every 100 hours, and after the first 50. The top-of-pedal figure is 20–30 mm.
Step-by-step
- Park on flat ground, set the parking brake, stop the engine and take the key out.
- Lightly press the pedal and measure the free travel at the top: 20–30 mm. At the stopper bolt it should be 1.0–1.5 mm.
- If it is out, change the length of the clutch pedal rod and lock it, then secure the stopper bolt with its lock nut.
Tools: Rule, Spanners
Radiator hoses and fuel lines check
Cooling · every 200 hours or every 6 months
The manual says check the radiator hoses and clamps every 200 hours or 6 months, whichever comes first, and check the fuel line in the same group. Replace radiator hoses, fuel pipes and clamps every 2 years or sooner if damaged.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Radiator hoses, fuel pipes and clamps | 1 | Replace every 2 years; check your handbook | check your handbook |
Step-by-step
- Only work on a cold engine; hot coolant scalds.
- Check the radiator hoses and clamps; replace any that are swollen, hard or cracked.
- Check the fuel pipes and clamps. Cap open ends with clean cloth while working, and bleed the fuel system after changing any part.
Tools: Screwdriver, Torch
Fan belt and brake pedal check
Engine · every 200 hours
Kubota lists both in the 200-hour group. Fan belt deflection 7–9 mm; brake pedal free travel 30–40 mm, with left and right within 4 mm of each other.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fan belt | 1 | Replace if cracked or worn; check your handbook for the number | check your handbook |
Step-by-step
- Stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
- Press the belt midway between the pulleys with moderate thumb pressure: it should move 7–9 mm. To adjust, slacken the alternator bolts, lever the alternator out and retighten.
- Release the parking brake and measure each brake pedal's free travel: 30–40 mm, and the two sides must be within 4 mm of each other.
- To adjust, slacken the lock nut, turn the turnbuckle to change the rod length and retighten.
Tools: Rule, Spanners, Lever bar
Transmission fluid, hydraulic filters and strainer change
Transmission · every 300 hours
Kubota's chart says change the transmission fluid, replace the hydraulic oil filter cartridges and clean the transmission oil strainer every 300 hours, and after the first 50 hours. The manual says the cartridge change and strainer clean are done together.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transmission fluid | 1 | UTTO tractor transmission-hydraulic fluid. Kubota Super UDT; B2410 12.5 L, B2710 14.0–14.5 L by serial, B2910 14.5 L. Aztec Oils match: AGRITEC UTTO | check your handbook |
| HST oil filter (spin-on) | 1 | Kubota number as quoted for the B2410 HST by a filter seller (also listed as HH660-36060); confirm with your dealer | 66021-36060 |
| Hydraulic oil filter (spin-on) | 1 | Kubota number as quoted for the B2410 by a filter seller (also listed as 67955-37710); confirm with your dealer | HH670-37710 |
| Strainer O-ring | 1 | Check your handbook | check your handbook |
Step-by-step
- Park on level ground, lower the linkage and any implement, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels. Let the oil cool enough not to burn you.
- Put the tray under the tractor and remove the drain plugs at the rear axle cases and the oil tank. When it has drained, refit all three plugs.
- Remove the filter cartridges. Oil the new gaskets lightly and screw the new ones on by hand; over-tightening deforms the gasket. Use genuine Kubota filters or equivalent to avoid hydraulic damage.
- Take out the transmission oil strainer, wash it in non-flammable solvent, check its O-ring and refit the strainer first before the cartridge.
- Remove the filling plug and fill with Super UDT to the upper notch on the dipstick. Do not mix brands or grades.
- Do not work the tractor straight away: run the engine at medium speed for a few minutes, stop it, recheck the level and top up. Check the filter seals for leaks.
Tools: Drain tray (20 L), Spanners for the three drain plugs, Filter wrench, Non-flammable solvent, Funnel
Toe-in and intake air line check
Front axle · every 300 hours
Kubota lists toe-in adjustment and checking the intake air line every 300 hours. Toe-in is 0–10 mm on the B2410 and 0–7 mm on the B2710 and B2910.
Step-by-step
- Park on level ground with tyres at the right pressure, wheels straight, implement lowered, parking brake on and engine off.
- Measure between the tyre beads at hub height at the front and the rear of the front tyres. The front figure should be smaller by the amount above.
- To adjust, slacken the tie rod lock nuts, turn the tie rod and retighten.
- Check the intake air hoses and clamps for tightness and damage.
Tools: Tape measure, Spanners

Known problems
Filter supersession
Kubota has moved some filters to new numbers (for example HH150-32094 now shows as W21ESO1530 at a UK genuine-parts dealer). Give the dealer your serial number.
Serial-number splits on the B2710
B2710 tractors below serial 15496 have a different fuel filter layout and a slightly smaller transmission capacity (14.0 L).
Two hydraulic filters
The HST and the hydraulic system each have a spin-on cartridge. Sellers mix the numbers up, so check what you take off.
Repair guides
- HST creeps in neutral, will not drive or loses power (Hard, 1 hour for neutral; 2–3 hours with pressure tests): Tractor creeps with the pedal released, will not move in either direction, slow or weak drive, top speed low.
- Injector testing and adjustment (Hard, 2–3 hours): Black smoke, knock, misfire, hard starting, loss of power; due every 1,500 hours.
- Low compression, valve clearance and head bolts (Hard, 1–2 hours for checks; a day for a head gasket): Hard starting, blue or white smoke, loss of power, tapping valve gear, coolant loss after a head job; valve check due every 800 hours.
- Brake pedal free travel and wet brake checks (Moderate, 30 minutes to adjust; most of a day to strip): Long pedal travel, tractor pulls when braking with pedals locked, weak brakes, heavy brake cam lever.
- Overheating: thermostat test, fan belt and hoses (Moderate, 1–2 hours): Temperature high, coolant lost from the recovery tank, slow warm-up, squealing belt.
The full step-by-step guides are in Farmyard Workshop once you add your tractor.
