Service jobs and parts

Air cleaner primary element: clean

Engine · every 100 hours

Kubota's handbook points to cleaning the primary (outer) element every 100 hours. Clean it more often in dusty work, and open the dust valve weekly, or daily in dust.

Step-by-step
  1. Stop the engine and take the key out. Never run the engine with the element out.
  2. Take off the cover and pull out the primary element. Leave the secondary (inner) element alone.
  3. Blow dry dust out from the inside outwards at low pressure. Never oil the element; it is a dry type.
  4. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth and refit the element.
  5. Refit the cover with its arrow pointing up, so the dust valve works.

Tools: Compressed air (low pressure), Torch, Damp cloth

Drain water from the fuel tank

Fuel · every 200 hours

Kubota says drain sediment and water from the fuel tank every 200 hours, more often if the fuel is dirty, and before using the tractor after storage.

Step-by-step
  1. Park on level ground, stop the engine and take the key out.
  2. Loosen the drain plug at the bottom of the left fuel tank and let sediment and water run out into a container.
  3. Retighten the plug. The tank is plastic, so do not overtighten.

Tools: Container, Spanner

Water separator: clean

Fuel · every 400 hours

Kubota says clean the water separator every 400 hours, and check and drain it daily. Water in the fuel damages the supply pump and injectors.

PartQtyNotesPart number

Step-by-step
  1. Stop the engine, take the key out and keep naked flames away.
  2. Close the fuel tap, then take the separator bowl off and catch the fuel.
  3. Wash out the bowl and element in clean diesel and check the O-ring.
  4. Refit the bowl, open the tap and bleed the fuel system.
  5. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Tools: Container for fuel, Rags, Gloves

Engine oil and filter change

Engine · every 500 hours

Kubota says change the engine oil and filter every 500 hours. Use DPF-compatible (API CJ-4) oil, because the wrong oil blocks the DPF with ash. Kubota says use only a genuine filter.

Tools: Drain tray, Filter wrench, Rags, Gloves

Front axle pivot: adjust

Front axle · every 600 hours

Kubota says check and adjust the front axle pivot every 600 hours. Play here wears bushes and makes steering vague.

Step-by-step
  1. Park on level ground, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the rear wheels.
  2. Follow the handbook's adjusting procedure for the pivot bolt and locknut.
  3. If you are not sure, have your dealer do it.

  3. Flush with clean water, then refit the plugs.
  4. Fill with a 50% mix of Kubota long-life coolant and top up the reserve tank.
  5. Run the engine to working temperature, let it cool and top up again.

Tools: Drain tray (15 L), Hose, Coolant tester

AdBlue (DEF) pump filter: replace

Exhaust · every 3,000 hours

Kubota lists the AdBlue pump filter in the 3,000-hour service. AdBlue keeps circulating to cool the injector after the engine stops, so wait until that has finished.

PartQtyNotesPart number
AdBlue (DEF) filter1A parts seller lists it as a genuine AdBlue filter for the M5091/M5111; confirm it is the pump filter (not the tank filter) with your dealer1J508-19660
Step-by-step
  1. Stop the engine, take the key out and wait for the AdBlue circulation to stop.
  2. Clean around the pump cover, then remove it.
  3. Take out the old filter assembly and fit the new one.
  4. Refit the cover. Do not put oil on the cover O-ring.
  5. Wash off any spilt AdBlue with water; it corrodes metal and wiring.

Tools: Spanner or socket for pump cover, Rags, Gloves, Water for spills

DPF ash cleaning and 3,000-hour dealer checks

Exhaust · every 3,000 hours

Kubota's handbook lists DPF ash cleaning at 3,000 hours. This needs a special cleaning machine. The same service covers dealer checks of the turbo, supply pump, intake air heater, EGR system and AdBlue injector. The AdBlue tank filter is a dealer job at 9,000 hours.

PartQtyNotesPart number

Known problems

Wrong engine oil blocks the DPF

Kubota says use DPF-compatible (API CJ-4, low-ash) oil. Ordinary high-ash oil fills the DPF with ash that regeneration cannot burn off.

AdBlue quality

Use only clean AdBlue to ISO 22241 and keep the cap shut. The pump filter is changed at 3,000 hours and the tank filter is a dealer job at 9,000 hours.

Water in fuel

Kubota warns that a neglected water separator or fuel filter can damage the supply pump and injectors early. Drain the separator daily and the tank every 200 hours.

Stage V M5-112 differs

The Stage V M5-092/M5-112 keeps the 3.8 L engine with DOC, DPF and SCR, but trade press gives a 6,000-hour DPF service interval and lower-rpm regeneration. Check the M5-112 handbook rather than this schedule.

Fuel filter number conflict

Parts listings give 1G410-52300 and a kit gives HH166-43560 for the fuel filter. Check against your serial number before ordering.
