Service jobs and parts
Air cleaner primary element clean
Engine · every 100 hours
The handbook lists cleaning the primary element every 100 hours (more often in dust). The evacuator valve should be squeezed weekly, or daily in dusty work.
Step-by-step
- Stop the engine and take the key out. Never run the engine without the element.
- Take out the primary element. Leave the secondary element alone unless it is being replaced.
- Blow dry dust out from the inside with low-pressure compressed air, turning the element.
- Check it with a torch inside for splits; replace it if damaged.
- Refit the element and cover, and squeeze the rubber evacuator valve to clear dust.
Tools: Compressed air with low-pressure nozzle, Torch, Dust mask
Fan / air-conditioner belt tension
Engine · every 100 hours
A slack belt slips, so the engine overheats. The handbook gives 11–12 mm deflection under a 98 N (10 kgf) push, checked in the 100-hour group.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fan belt | 1 | Replace if damaged; check your handbook | check your handbook |
Step-by-step
- Stop the engine and take the key out. Keep hands clear of the fan.
- Press the belt firmly with your thumb (about 10 kg) halfway between the pulleys. It should move 11–12 mm.
- To adjust, loosen the tension pulley nut and lock nut and turn the tension bolt until the deflection is right.
- Tighten the nuts and recheck the deflection.
Tools: Spanners, Rule
Brake pedal check and adjustment
Brakes · every 100 hours
Uneven brakes pull the tractor sideways, which is dangerous on the road. The handbook gives 7–14 mm free travel, equal on both pedals, for the 12 x 12 model; for the 8 x 8, check your handbook.
Step-by-step
- Stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
- Lightly press each brake pedal and measure the free travel at the top of the stroke: 7–14 mm, the same both sides.
- Each pedal's full stroke should be under 100 mm, and the two pedals should be within 5 mm of each other when pressed together.
- If any reading is out, have a Kubota dealer adjust the brakes.
Tools: Rule, Wheel chocks

Known problems
DPF regeneration and limp mode
Owners report frequent regenerations and power loss or limp mode on some M7060s. Let regenerations finish, use only CJ-4 oil, and ask the dealer about service bulletins for your serial number.
Worn injectors overloading the DPF
Several owners link near-constant regenerations to failing injectors. Kubota supplied improved replacements; a dealer can test them.
Water in the fuel
Water damages common-rail injectors. The handbook has you drain water from the fuel tank and check the water separator; keep fuel clean and the tank topped up overnight.
Filters at 500 h, transmission oil at 1,000 h
The two hydraulic filters are due twice as often as the transmission fluid. Missing them puts dirty oil through the shuttle and hydraulics.

Repair guides
- DPF regeneration warnings and limp mode (Specialist, 30 minutes for owner checks; a parked regeneration takes about 15–20 minutes): Regeneration lamp or engine-speed lamp flashing, buzzer sounding, regenerations happening very often, engine power cut to half, engine warning lamp on.
- Worn injectors causing frequent regenerations (Specialist, 1 hour for owner checks; injector testing and replacement is a dealer job): Regenerations far more often than before, more soot, rough or lumpy running, loss of power, engine warning lamp, fuel smell in the engine oil.
- Water in the fuel: draining the separator and bleeding the fuel system (Easy, 30–45 minutes): Red float in the water separator up at the upper limit mark, engine misfiring or losing power, engine stops after a filter change or running out of fuel, hard starting after the tractor has stood unused.
- Clutch pedal free travel and shuttle problems (Moderate, 1–2 hours (longer if the filters and fluid are changed)): Gears grind or the tractor creeps with the clutch pedal down, shuttle slow, jerky or slipping when changing direction, clutch pedal feels different, transmission fluid dark or filters overdue.
- Brake pedal checks and uneven braking (Specialist, 30 minutes for checks; adjustment and bleeding by a dealer): Tractor pulls to one side when braking, long or spongy pedal travel, pedals at different heights when latched together, parking brake will not hold on a slope.
- Overheating: thermostat, radiator cap, fan belt and water pump (Moderate, 1–3 hours): Temperature gauge high or overheat warning, coolant lost from the recovery tank, steam, engine slow to warm up, squealing belt, coolant weeping from the water pump.
- Starting and charging faults: glow plugs, starter and alternator (Moderate, 1–2 hours): Slow cranking, clicking with no crank, hard starting in cold weather, glow lamp behaving oddly, charge warning lamp on while running, flat battery.
- PTO will not engage or slips (Specialist, 1 hour for owner checks): PTO does not turn when switched on, PTO slips under load or engages harshly, PTO lamp stays on or flashes.
- Front wheel shake, pivot play and toe-in (4WD) (Moderate, 1–2 hours): Front wheels shake or shimmy, knocking from the front axle over bumps, steering wanders, front tyres wearing on the edges, oil weeping from the axle gear cases.
