Tine check and replacement
Tines · every year
Kuhn's end-of-season list says inspect the tines and replace worn or damaged ones. Each tine bolt is torqued to 16 daNm (160 Nm).
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tine, right-hand | 1 | Genuine Kuhn, listed by Partao for GF 502 / 502 T / TH / MH. Per tine, as needed. Newer number series than 58740600; check against the old tine | K2518370 |
| Tine, left-hand (anticlockwise) | 1 | Kuhn number 58740600 (587.406.00), listed by Agri-Can as fitting GF 502. Per tine, as needed. Check the hand against the rotor | 58740600 |
| Tines | 1 | As needed: two types, for clockwise and anticlockwise rotors. Genuine Kuhn: check your handbook | check your handbook |
Step-by-step
- Unfold the tedder into work position on the ground, disengage the PTO, stop the tractor engine, take the key out and apply the parking brake. Wait until the rotors have stopped.
- If you have to work with the wings raised, make sure they are locked in transport position. Never stand under a raised wing held only by the hydraulics.
- Check every tine for bends, cracks and wear.
- Remove the attachment screw (1) and take off the worn tine.
- Fit the right type for that rotor's direction, so the crop pressure closes the coils.
- Check the bolt, washer and nut and replace any that are worn.
- Make sure the tine sits properly in the tine arm and tighten the screw to 16 daNm (160 Nm).
