Service jobs and parts

Ten-hour greasing and oiling

Greasing · every 10 hours

Kuhn has a long list of points on a 10-hour interval (and after cleaning with a high-pressure washer): rotor cutter bar, tailgate hinges and cylinders, tension cylinders, drive roller, extra drive roller, and oil on the tailgate locking pins and lock hinges, tension arm, net actuator, duckbill braking catch and knife mechanism.

PartQtyNotesPart number

Oil1Light oil for pivot points that have no nipplecheck your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Stop the PTO and engine, take the key out and secure the baler.
  2. Grease with one or two presses of the gun. If you feel resistance on the second press, stop: too much grease damages bearings.
  3. Grease the rotor cutter bar, tailgate hinges, tailgate cylinders (top), tension cylinders (lower end), drive roller and extra drive roller.
  4. Oil the tailgate locking pins and lock hinges, the tailgate cylinder lower ends, the tension arm hinges, the net actuator top and bottom, the duckbill braking catch pivot and the knife mechanism pivots.
  5. Do the same after every high-pressure clean and at the start of the season.

Automatic chain lubrication oil level

Chains and lubrication · every 10 hours

The continuous system has an oil tank (4.2 L maximum) and a pump driven by the right-hand drive shaft. Kuhn says check the level before work. Never let the pump run out of oil: it will be damaged.
