Service jobs and parts

Rotor bearing play check

Rotor · every 20 hours

Lemken says check the rotor bearings for play: too much play damages the gear wheels and the trough. Zirkon 7 and 9: after the first 100 hours, then every 20 hours. Zirkon 10: every 200 hours for the first 1,000 hours, then every 20 hours.

Rotor bearing1Replace a bearing with too much play. Genuine Lemken part number: check your parts bookcheck your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Stop the tractor, take the key out and support the raised machine.
  2. Hold each tine or rotor and rock it to feel for play in the bearing.
  3. Replace any bearing with noticeable play before it damages the gearing.

Greasing (universal grease, per lubrication diagram)

Lubrication · every 25 hours or every year

The Zirkon 7 and 9 diagram has points at every 8, 25 and 250 hours, and before and after a long break. The Zirkon 10 has points at every 25 and 50 hours. Follow the diagram for your model.

Universal grease1Universal (multi-purpose) grease, as the Lemken book sayscheck your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Stop the tractor, take the key out and clean the nipples.
  2. Zirkon 7 / 9: grease the points marked 8, 25 and 250 hours at those intervals, and all of them before and after a long break.
  3. Zirkon 10: lower control link, feed discs and track marker disc bearings every 25 hours; hydraulic linkage, lifting links and others every 50 hours; guide pins and cylinder rods before a winter break.
  4. Before a winter break, grease piston rods with acid-free grease and the surfaces of the feed and track marker discs.

Tools: Grease gun, Rags

Tines and scrapers

Rotor · every 100 hours

Lemken says worn tines must be changed in good time and the roller scrapers adjusted and replaced when worn. Bolts must be checked every 100 hours (Zirkon 7 and 9) or 50 hours (Zirkon 10).

PartQtyNotesPart number
Tine, right-hand (Zirkon 6-9)1Genuine Lemken, listed by Partao for Zirkon 6 to 9. Left-hand number not confirmed; a Zirkon 9 tine is also listed as 3377012 with no hand given. Check your parts book3377013
Power harrow tine1Genuine Lemken 'Allround' tine. Part number: check your parts bookcheck your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Raise the machine fully and support it. Never work under an unsupported harrow.
  2. Check every tine for wear or breaks. Replace worn tines. On the Zirkon 10, tines can be changed with the harrow mounted and raised, or lifted by crane, folded back and rested on the roller.
  3. Tighten the tine nuts. Check every other nut and bolt at the same time.
  4. Adjust the roller scrapers and replace any that are worn.

Speed-change gearbox oil and gear trough check

Gearbox · every 500 hours or every year

Lemken says the first oil change is after 50 working hours and every change after that at 500 hours, but at least once a year. Check the gearbox level daily. The gear trough runs on a special long-life grease.

Step-by-step
  1. Park the power harrow on level, firm ground, stop the tractor and take the key out.
  2. Take out the filler and vent plugs, then the drain plug, and let all the oil run out. Dispose of the oil properly.
  3. Refit the drain plug and fill to the correct level: the control plug hole on the Zirkon 7, the marks on the Zirkon 9 scale or the check screw on the Zirkon 10.
  4. Keep everything clean while you do it. Use only clean oil of the listed grade.

Gear trough grease level check

Gearbox · every year

The gear trough grease is a long-life grease changed at 4,000 hours, or sooner if it turns white (condensation). Check the level each year.
