Service jobs and parts

Grease linkage, front axle and driveshaft points

Chassis · every 50 hours

The handbook's 50-hour grease list: lift rods, stabilisers, top link, lift cylinders and arms, front axle swivel pins and bearings, four-wheel-drive shaft joints and the linkage-hook points.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Grease1EP2 grease. AGCO M.1105 or lithium multi-purpose grease: NLGI 1 if often below 7 °C, NLGI 2 for 7–27 °C, NLGI 3 if often above 27 °C. Aztec Oils match: VOLCATEC LITHIUM EP 2check your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Wipe each nipple clean first.
  2. Linkage: lift rods (4 nipples), stabilisers (2), top link (2), lift cylinders (4) and lift arms (2).
  3. Front axle: swivel pins, the front and rear axle bearings and the four-wheel-drive shaft joints (2 nipples each end). Jack the front up before greasing the axle bearings.
  4. Gear-lever joints (2), Dromone hook joints (3), front linkage points and lift valves where fitted.
  5. Smear door hinges and locks with petroleum jelly. Wipe off the surplus.

Tools: Grease gun, Rag

Engine oil and filter change

Engine · every 400 hours

Oil and filter together every 400 hours. The handbook calls 400 hours the maximum: change sooner (for example every 200 hours) in hard work. First change at the 50-hour dealer inspection.

Step-by-step
  1. Park on level ground, lower the linkage and implements, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels. Drain the oil when the engine is hot.
  2. Remove the sump drain plug and let the oil run out fully; refit with a 35 Nm torque.
  3. Unscrew the filter, fill the new one with fresh oil, oil the seal, and tighten half a turn after it touches (not more).
  4. Fill to the MAX mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill: it can cause engine overspeed.
  5. Crank the engine without starting it (unplug the fuel pump feed) until the oil pressure light goes out, then start, check for leaks and recheck the level.

Tools: Drain tray (25 L), Strap wrench, Spanner for the sump plug (plug torque 35 Nm), Funnel, Gloves and rags

Fuel filter element(s)

Fuel system · every 400 hours

Change the fuel filter element every 400 hours. Drain water from the filter every 100 hours (open the tap under each element), and fill the tank at the end of each day to stop condensation.

Known problems

Overlaps existing entry

The 6445 to 6470 are not in the site yet.

Russian-language handbook

Read from the Russian edition of the 6400 EAME operator's book (3378434M2). The printed service chart's columns did not read, so every interval here comes from the written pages. Oil and transmission grades follow BP brand names the handbook uses; other oils to the same MF specification are fine.

Capacity differences

The operator's book and the 6400 workshop manual differ on transmission, axle and coolant capacities (shown in the notes). Use the dipstick and level plugs as the final check.

The full step-by-step guides are in Farmyard Workshop once you add your tractor.
