Engine oil and filter change
Engine · every 600 hours
The official Swiss tractor test (Agroscope) records a 600-hour engine oil change interval, and New Holland's T7 brochure quotes 600-hour service intervals. Oil and filter are changed together. Check your handbook for an annual limit and the oil grade.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engine oil | 1 | ≈15 L; grade: check your handbook | check your handbook |
| Engine oil filter | 1 | Listed by a New Holland dealer for T7.210 built 12/10–8/21 | 84228488 |
Step-by-step
- Warm the engine, park on level ground, lower the linkage, loader and any implement, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
- Let it stand a few minutes. Hot oil burns, so wear gloves.
- Remove the sump plug and let the oil drain fully.
- Remove the filter, check the old seal came off, and wipe the filter head clean.
- Oil the new filter seal and fit it hand-tight.
- Refit the plug and fill with the oil your handbook specifies to the full mark.
- Run the engine for a minute, check for leaks, stop it and recheck the level.
Tools: Drain tray (20 L), Filter wrench, Spanner for sump plug, Funnel, Rags, Gloves
Fuel filter and water separator
Fuel · every 600 hours
New Holland quotes 600-hour service intervals for the T7 but the brochure does not list each item, so confirm in your handbook that the fuel filters are included. Drain water from the separator whenever it shows.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fuel filter | 1 | Dealer fitment: T7.210 4/14–8/21. Earlier tractors use a different number; check your handbook | 84526251 |
| Fuel pre-filter / water separator | 1 | Genuine number cross-referenced by Agriline; also sold as Fleetguard FS19953 | 84278636 |
Step-by-step
- Check your build date before ordering; the fuel filter number changed.
- Stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels. Keep naked flames away.
- Clean around the filters before opening anything.
- Drain any water from the separator into a container.
- Fit the new filters with clean seals and prime the system as your handbook describes. Never crack open the high-pressure pipes.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
Tools: Container for fuel, Filter wrench, Rags, Gloves
Transmission and hydraulic oil and filter change
Transmission · every 1,200 hours
The Agroscope test records a 1,200-hour change interval for the shared gearbox and hydraulic oil. The filters are always changed with the oil. Which filters your tractor has depends on build date and transmission, so check your handbook.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |

| Hydraulic suction filter | 1 | Listed by an Irish dealer's T7.210 kit. Check in your handbook whether it is changed every time | 87708150 |
Step-by-step
- Park on level ground, lower the linkage, loader and implements fully, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
- With the engine off, work the spool and linkage controls to relieve hydraulic pressure.
- Let hot oil cool for a while, then drain it from the drain plugs.
- Refit the plugs and fit the new filters for your build.
- Fill with the specified oil, run the engine, work the hydraulics through their full travel, lower everything and recheck the level.

Repair guides
- T7 Power Command / Auto Command transmission warnings: owner checks (Specialist, 1 hour of checks; dealer for calibration and repair): No drive in one range, jerky speed changes (Auto Command), low charge pressure warning, transmission fault codes, shifts slow or harsh.
- Sluggish hydraulics: compensator valve and load-sense checks (Specialist, 1 hour of checks; dealer for pressure tests): Spools and linkage slow or weak, loader slow, hydraulics fine on one function but not another, pump noisy.
- Rear linkage (EDC) will not lift or hold: owner checks (Moderate, 30–60 minutes; dealer for calibration): Linkage will not lift, lifts only from the fender switches, drops slowly, hunts up and down, EDC fault light.
- Front axle suspension: harsh ride, axle not levelling, leaks (Specialist, 45 minutes of checks; dealer for repairs): Front end bounces or crashes over bumps, axle does not level, suspension warning, oil on the suspension cylinder.
- AdBlue (SCR) warnings and contaminated fuel or AdBlue: owner checks (Specialist, 30–60 minutes of checks; dealer for faults): AdBlue or SCR warning, engine derated, fuel or AdBlue filter fault codes, white crystals around dosing parts.
- Wet brakes wearing: brake fluid drop and brake checks (Specialist, 15 minutes of checks; dealer rebuild about 15 hours): Brake fluid level in the reservoir drops a lot, longer pedal, weaker braking, brakes pull to one side.
- Hydraulic or air trailer brakes not working: owner checks (Moderate, 30–60 minutes): Trailer brakes weak or not working, trailer pushes the tractor when braking, air leaks at the couplings.
- Flat battery, no start or charging warning: battery, starter and alternator checks (Moderate, 30–60 minutes): Engine will not crank, clicks only, slow cranking, battery warning light, electrics dead after standing, lights dim.
- Order the right parts: Massey Ferguson, New Holland and Case IH build dates (Easy, 30 minutes): Wrong filter arrives, sellers list different numbers for the same tractor, earlier-model parts do not fit.
- Wheel nuts and changing a wheel safely (Moderate, 1–2 hours per wheel): Loose or missing wheel nuts, rust streaks from nuts, wheel wobble, a puncture, or a wheel refitted after tyre work.
- PTO will not engage or drops out: owner checks (Moderate, 30–60 minutes): PTO will not start, starts then stops, slips under load, PTO warning, fender button works but cab switch does not (or the reverse).
