Service jobs and parts
Grease all fittings
Chassis · every 50 hours
The handbook lists every grease fitting under the 50 hour service: lift arms, lift rods, top link, front axle, trunnion pins, steering cylinders and track rods, 4WD hubs and the drive shaft joint on suspended and SuperSteer axles, and the rear hitch. Oil all other pivots.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grease | 1 | Ambra GR9 (NH 710 A), NLGI 2, multi-purpose EP grease. No part number given in the handbook. Aztec Oils match: VOLCATEC LITHIUM EP 2 | check your handbook |
Step-by-step
- Park on level ground, lower the linkage, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
- Wipe each fitting clean before and after greasing.
- Grease the right and left lift arms, right and left lift rods (a tractor with a hydraulic right-hand lift rod has no fitting there) and the top link.
- Grease the front axle. A 2WD axle has fittings on the outer steering parts, front hubs and centre steering parts. A standard 4WD axle has front and rear trunnion pins.
- SuperSteer axle: front and rear trunnion pins and the lower swivel bearing. Suspended axle: front trunnion pin, upper and lower damper pivots, Panhard rod pivot and the suspension arm (the fitting is at the rear of the arm under the tractor).
- On suspended and SuperSteer axles, grease the drive shaft universal joint (the fitting is at the rear; some shields have an access hole).
- Grease the 4WD steering cylinders, track rods and the hub steering and swivel bearings on both sides. A tractor with a steering angle sensor has a sealed right-hand upper swivel bearing with no fitting.
- Grease the rear tow hitch fittings, which vary with the hitch type (auto engagement, slider frame, slider frame with swivel coupling).
- Oil all other pivots, then wipe off any surplus.
Tools: Grease gun, Rag
Radiator, intercooler and cooler cores clean
Cooling · every 50 hours
The handbook says check the radiator, intercooler, oil cooler and air conditioner condenser cores at 50 hours and clean them if chaff or dirt has built up. A blocked core makes the engine and transmission run hot.
Step-by-step
- Stop the engine, take the key out and let it cool. Wear eye protection and keep bystanders away.
- Release the fasteners on the air conditioner condenser by pulling them forward and swing the condenser out.
- Release the spring clip and, using the grab handle, pull the intercooler and oil cooler up and out. They lock in the raised position. A tractor with a front PTO has a small extra oil cooler.
- Blow or wash through each core from the back to the front, working in this order: radiator, condenser, then the driveline oil cooler. Keep the pressure at or below 7 bar (100 psi).
- Gently straighten any bent fins.
- Lower the coolers by pulling up on the handle while pushing the top of the intercooler in, then refit the condenser.
Tools: Compressed air or a low-pressure washer (7 bar / 100 psi at most), Eye protection, Dust mask
Cab air filters clean
Cab · every 50 hours
The handbook lists cleaning the two external cab air filters and the internal recirculation filter at 50 hours. A blocked filter weakens the heater and air conditioning.
Step-by-step
- Switch off the blower. To shake loose dirt off the underside, close the roof hatch, windows and one door, then slam the other door.
- External filters: release the clip at the front of the filter cover, take off the cover and lift out the element. The media has a rubber seal bonded to the top, so take care not to tear it.
- Blow air through each element from the clean (upper) side to the dirty side with the nozzle at least 300 mm away. Keep the air under 2 bar (30 psi).
- Wipe the filter chambers with a damp lint-free cloth. Refit the elements clean side up and refit the covers.
- Internal filter: loosen the retaining screws, remove the cover, take out the filter, clean it the same way and refit it.
Tools: Compressed air (2 bar / 30 psi at most), Lint-free damp cloth
300 hour checks: drive belt, parking brake, transmission oil level, front PTO oil level
Chassis · every 300 hours
The handbook's 300 hour list covers the poly-V belt, transmission and rear axle oil level, parking brake adjustment, front PTO gearbox oil level and (in tropical climates) battery electrolyte. These are checks, not changes.
| Part | Qty | Notes | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transmission/hydraulic oil for top-up | 1 | Ambra Multi G 10W30 (NH 410 B). No part number given in the handbook. Aztec Oils match: AGRITEC UTTO | check your handbook |
Step-by-step
- Poly-V belt: inspect it along its whole length for chafing, cracking and cuts. If in doubt, fit a new one. Check it sits correctly on the pulleys and the tensioner works.
- Transmission and rear axle oil: park on level ground with all cylinders extended and the engine off for at least five minutes. The level must be between the high and low marks in the sight glass on the left of the rear axle housing. Top up through the filler cap if needed.
- Parking brake: block the front wheels, jack up the rear and support it. Apply the brake to the fourth notch of the ratchet, ease back the rubber boot, loosen the locknuts and turn the adjuster nuts until both wheels just start to lock. Release it, check both wheels turn freely, reapply and tighten the locknuts. Road test.
- Front PTO gearbox (if fitted): take out the combined level and filler plug. The oil should reach the bottom of the opening. Top up if needed and refit the plug.
- Tractors used in tropical climates: check the battery electrolyte level covers the plates, topping up with distilled water only.
Tools: Spanners for the brake cable locknuts, Funnel
Engine oil and filter change
Engine · every 600 hours
The handbook gives the normal engine oil and filter change at 600 hours. Below -12 °C or in arduous work, change the oil every 300 hours (filter at 600). If your diesel has 0.5 to 1.0% sulphur change oil every 300 hours, and 1.0 to 1.3% every 150 hours. UK diesel is far below these levels.

Repair guides
- Engine won't start or runs rough: changing the fuel filters and bleeding the system (T7030–T7060) (Moderate, 45–60 minutes): Engine cranks but will not start after a filter change or running dry, rough running, or water in the primary filter.
- Jerky or sluggish pull-away on a Power Command: transmission clutch calibration (T7030–T7060) (Specialist, 30–45 minutes; follow the handbook exactly or ask the dealer): Harsh or slow gear changes, jerky pull-away, or after work on the transmission.
- Parking brake won't hold or pulls to one side: handbrake cable adjustment (T7030–T7060) (Moderate, 1 hour): Handbrake won't hold on a slope, lever travels too far, or the tractor does not stop straight on the handbrake.
- Hydraulic filter warning or weak hydraulics: changing the charge and main filters (T7030–T7060) (Moderate, 1 hour): Hydraulic or transmission filter warning light, slow lift or remotes, or the 600-hour service is due.
- Ticking, hard starting or power loss: checking valve clearance (T7030–T7060) (Hard, 2–3 hours): Tapping from the top of the engine, poor starting or power, or the 1,200-hour check is due.
- Squealing or flat battery: checking the poly V-belt and tensioner (T7030–T7060) (Easy, 30 minutes): Squeal on starting, battery not charging, overheating, or a cracked belt.
