  2. Put the tray under the sump, take out the drain plug and let the oil run out, then refit the plug.
  3. Unscrew the old oil filter. Take care, as oil will run out of it.
  4. Smear a little clean engine oil on the rubber seal of the new filter. Screw it on until the seal just touches, then turn it a further three-quarters of a turn by hand.
  5. Fill with oil to the dipstick mark. Start the engine, check the filter and plug for leaks, stop it and top up. The level drops a little once a new filter is fitted.

Fuel filter sediment bowl drain

Fuel · every 100 hours

The dealer guide says drain the fuel filter every 100 hours of use so any water and sediment come out before they reach the pump.

Step-by-step
  1. Make sure there is fuel in the tank. Turn the fuel shut-off valve to C (closed).
  2. Take off the sediment bowl. Turn the shut-off valve to O and let fuel flow until only clean fuel, no water, comes from the filter base.
  3. Close the valve, refit the bowl, open the valve again and bleed the fuel system.

The general TC guide gives the filter figure but no hours for the oil, so check your handbook for the older TC models. Do the filter with the oil. Hydrostatic (HST) models also have an HST filter on the same schedule.

Mixed data on older models

The dealer guides do not say which TC models they were written from (the general guide names TC18 to TC45, the other names the TC48 and TC55). The 300-hour transmission oil figure is from the TC48/TC55 guide, so check your handbook for the older TC models.
