Grease the bearing positions

Lubrication · every 20 hours

Stoll's lubrication schedule says grease the bearing positions every 20 hours, and more often in dirty conditions. The FS has 9 nipples per side and the FZ has 12. On the FZ the nipple at position 1 can only be reached by lifting the loader slightly and resting it on the tool tip. Grease again after cleaning the loader.

Step-by-step
  1. Lower the loader and implement to the ground, stop the tractor and take the key out.
  2. Wipe each nipple clean and grease all the bearing positions on both sides until a little fresh grease shows.
  3. On an FZ, lift the loader a little and put it down on the implement tip to reach the nipple at position 1.
  4. Wipe off any extra grease.

Check bolts and bearing clearance

Structure · every 100 hours or every month

Stoll's service schedule says check the screw connections at the bearing positions every 100 hours and tighten if needed. It also says check the bearing clearance of the mountings every 100 hours (at least once a month). Clearance must not exceed 0.5 mm; have bushes replaced by a workshop if it does.

Step-by-step
  1. Lower the loader to the ground and stop the tractor.
  2. Check each bolt at the bearing positions against the torque table, for example M12 8.8 at 93 Nm, M16 8.8 at 230 Nm. The table assumes clean, dry threads.
  3. Check the play in each bearing. More than 0.5 mm means the bushes need replacing by a specialist workshop.

Check catch hooks and change frame for wear and cracks

Structure · every 100 hours or every month

Stoll warns a worn catch hook can let the loader break off the mounting. Measure the hook (60 mm nominal, 61 mm limit) and the change frame (8 mm wear limit) and look for cracks regularly.

Step-by-step
  1. Park the loader on the ground and clean the catch hooks and change frame.
  2. Measure the catch hook dimension X. Replace the mounting part if it is over the limit of 61 mm.
  3. Measure the change frame wear on its lower edge. Replace the frame if it is worn beyond 8 mm.
  4. Look closely for cracks in the loader and mounting kit. Stop work and see a workshop if you find one.

Tools: Vernier calliper or Stoll wear gauge

Grease the catch hooks and locking mechanism

Lubrication · every 100 hours

Stoll says grease the front loader mountings (catch hooks) and the locking mechanism every 100 hours, and lubricating them each time the loader is mounted or dismounted saves extra work.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Multipurpose grease1Multipurpose grease DIN 51502 K2K, ISO 6743 ISO-L-XCCEA2. Locking mechanism: grease or lubricating oilcheck your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Unlock the loader and grease the catch hooks on the tractor mounting.
  2. Grease the pivot points of the locking mechanism and work it through its full travel.
  3. Wipe off extra grease so dirt does not collect.

Tools: Grease gun, Rag

Check and adjust the locking mechanism

Mountings · every 100 hours

Stoll says check the setting of the loader locking mechanism and re-adjust it if the lever rattles or the disc spring gap closes. Blow the mechanism clear with compressed air.

Step-by-step
  1. Close the locking mechanism and push the lever fully down. The lever should not rattle.
  2. On the double locking mechanism (FZ 30 to 100), blow it out with compressed air and look at the gap between the disc springs and the turning lock. The clamping wedge is at full tension when the gap nearly disappears.
  3. Re-adjust as your handbook shows if needed.

Tools: Compressed air, Spanners

Lay-up: clean, grease and store

Storage · every year

Stoll says clean with water and a mild cleaner, regrease after cleaning, park the loader with an implement of at least 70 kg on load-bearing level ground, lock the parking supports, cap the hydraulic couplings and cover it with a tarpaulin. Before using it again, have any due service done and do the pre-start check.

Step-by-step
  1. Clean the loader with water and a mild cleaner. Do not use cleaners that attack the paint or seals.
  2. Re-grease all the lubricated surfaces.
  3. Park it with an implement of at least 70 kg, fold down the parking supports and lock them. Park on firm level ground.
  4. Release the pressure, uncouple the hydraulics, hang the lines on the coupling mount and fit the dust caps.
  5. Cover with a tarpaulin if wanted.
  6. On recommissioning, do the service due and check all the functions.

Tools: Water and mild cleaner, Grease gun, Tarpaulin

Hydraulic hose lines: inspect and replace on age

Hydraulics · every 4 years

Stoll says hose lines are stored for 2 years at most and used for 6 years at most from the date marked on them, giving at least 4 years in use. The schedule lists replacement by a workshop at 4 years. Replace porous or cracked hoses at once and sooner if they wear out early. The hoses carry the date as, for example, 1Q15 on the hose and 0415 on the fittings.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Hydraulic hose lines1Check your handbook or Stoll parts list for your loadercheck your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Lower the loader and stop the tractor. Release the pressure before touching any hydraulic part; it can still be under pressure with the tractor off.
  2. Read the manufacture date on each hose and fitting. Replace any line older than 6 years or near 4 years in use.
  3. Look for porous or cracked hoses, leaks and chafing, and replace them.
  4. After any hydraulic work, move the loader gently to all its end positions with no load to clear air.

Known problems

Catch hook wear

Stoll warns the loader can break off a badly worn mounting. Measure the hooks at the service intervals.

Tractor oil

The loader runs on the tractor's hydraulic oil. Fit the oil change to the tractor's schedule, then move the loader slowly to all end positions to clear air.
