Grease the drawbar ram every 50 hours.
Oil the wrap arm drive chain and the table roller drive chain.
Oil the dispenser gears; if the machine is in daily use, grease the gears under the plastic cover on the dispenser when needed.
All ball bearings are packed with grease and need no more attention.

Hydraulic oil pressure filter change
Hydraulics · every year
Tanco says the oil filter must be changed once a year. The Tanco 1400 spare parts list shows an 'Oil pressure filter' at item 7 of the control valve mounting (chapter 1.1); the number is not clear enough in the text I could read.

Step-by-step
Park the wrapper, relieve all hydraulic pressure and disconnect from the tractor.
Clean around the filter on the control valve block, undo and replace it with a genuine filter.
Reconnect, run the machine and check for leaks.
Tools: Spanners, Drain tray, Rags
Film cutter and film holder check
Film cutter · every year
Tanco: the cutter and film holder are pre-set at the factory but need adjusting when you replace spares. The springs for the U-shaped slot should be nearly squeezed together when the cutter arm is fully down.

Step-by-step
Stop the machine and relieve the hydraulics.
Check the cutter closes fully. If it creeps open, open and close it several times to free dirt, and look for seal wear on the arms.
After replacing parts, adjust the springs for the U-shaped slot so they are almost fully squeezed together with the cutter arm all the way down.

Cleaning and storage
Storage · every year
Tanco: clean and oil the machine regularly and at the end of the season. Store it on a dry place in the closed season. Keep every hydraulic cylinder closed when storing, and the quick couplers clean with dust caps on.
Step-by-step
Clean the machine. With a high-pressure washer, keep water off the electrics and out of bearings. Keep the control box dry and dry the electrical parts with compressed air.
Oil the chains and moving parts.
Close all hydraulic cylinders and fit the dust caps on the quick couplers.
Park on a dry place.
Tools: Cleaning equipment, Compressed air, Oil can
Pre-season hydraulic supply check
Hydraulics · every year
Tanco's troubleshooting basics: tractor oil pressure 180 bar, return flow free with no more than 10 bar back pressure, and electric supply direct from the tractor battery (2.5 mm² minimum cable). A tractor oil flow of 30 L/min is recommended; at least 20 L/min is needed.
Step-by-step
Put a gauge on the feed hose or the test point at the control valve inlet and check 180 bar.
Check the return pressure is no more than 10 bar and preferably a free return to tank.
Check the supply voltage: valves will not open below 10 V and you should have 11.5 V or more.
Check the quick couplers open fully. Replace any that do not.

Known problems
Squeeze and crush points
The wrapping arm passes a stationary arm with a squeeze gap of 25 to 40 mm. The squeeze arm also moves vertically and horizontally. Keep clear while the machine runs.
Do not adjust the tower block valves
Tanco says valves 16 to 19 on the tower block are factory set. Only trained people should adjust them.
