Service jobs and parts

Weekly greasing

Chassis · every 50 hours

The handbook greases these points weekly or every 50 hours: three-point linkage, pick-up hitch, front linkage, brake cams, front axle mounting bearings, flexible front mudguards.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Grease1Universal lithium grease (NLGI 2). Valtra Universal Grease; Valtra Calsium LF for the brake cams. Aztec Oils match: VOLCATEC LITHIUM EP 2check your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Three-point linkage: levelling screws, top link, lifting cylinder lower pins and upper pins, two nipples each.
  2. Pick-up hitch and front linkage nipples; front linkage lifting cylinder pins and lifting links shaft every 50 hours.
  3. Brake cam: nipples both sides with Calsium LF, plus the sliding surfaces.
  4. Front axle mounting bearings: lift the front end a little (not by the axle or weight bracket), grease both bearings and tilt the axle so grease goes in evenly. Air-suspended axle: nipples on the mounting.
  5. Flexible front mudguards if fitted.

Tools: Grease gun

Engine oil and filter change

Engine · every 500 hours or every year

Engine oil and filter are changed every 500 hours or yearly. In extremely dusty conditions, or with more than 5% biodiesel, change them every 250 hours.

Step-by-step
  1. Park on level ground, lower any implement or loader to the ground, apply the parking brake, stop the engine, take the key out and chock the wheels.
  2. Run the engine briefly to warm the oil, then stop it. Let it stand a few minutes so the oil drains back, but wear gloves because the oil can still be very hot.
  3. Remove the sump drain plug and let the oil run into a container, clean the plug and refit it.
  4. Unscrew the old oil filter, wipe away any oil that ran onto the chassis, smear a little oil on the new filter's seal and tighten it by hand only.
  5. Refill through the filler to the upper mark on the dipstick.
  6. Start the engine, check for leaks, stop it, wait a few minutes and recheck the level on the dipstick.
  7. Check that the crankcase breather pipe is open and not blocked.

Known problems

Use original fuel filters

Valtra warns that non-original fuel filters, even briefly, can cut performance and cause expensive damage.

Brake circuit oil

The brake circuits are not drained when the transmission oil is changed, so they must be bled separately.
