Service jobs and parts

Engine oil change and oil cleaner 1 (P1)

Engine · every 70 hours

Technical inspection P1, every 70 engine hours (or 250 L of fuel on a 3011), changes the engine oil and washes oil cleaner 1. The cleaners have washable mesh-disc elements, not paper filters, so there is no element to buy. Cleaner 2 is washed at P2 (245 h).

Engine oil1OZT-10A summer / OZT-7A winter; 2011 6 L, 3011 8 L, 4011 11 Lcheck your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Change the oil at the end of a day's work while it is warm. Park level and stop the engine.
  2. Unscrew the magnetic drain plug and clean the metal off it.
  3. Undo the nuts on the oil cleaner holder and take off the bowls with their elements.
  4. Wash the elements in paraffin, petrol or diesel, taking the mesh discs off their centre spindles. Do not mix up coarse element 1 and fine element 2: the mesh is different.
  5. Dry the bowls and elements fully; even traces of solvent spoil the oil.
  6. Reassemble, fill the bowls about half full with clean oil and refit them.
  7. Fill the engine to the top mark, turn the engine over a few times by hand, then start and watch the oil pressure (green) lamp. Check the bowls are sealed.

70-hour inspection (P1): levels, greasing, air cleaner

Chassis · every 70 hours

P1, every 70 hours, also checks the gearbox, outer final drive and injection pump oil, changes the air cleaner oil (every second P1 if not dusty), turns the water pump greaser, oils the clutch release collar, greases the front axle and hydraulic points and checks battery and brake fluid.

Step-by-step
  1. Check the gearbox, outer final drive and injection pump oil levels and top up.
  2. Air cleaner: undo the wing nut, check the settling bowl, unclip the three lower catches, empty the pre-cleaner, wash the body, element and swirl plate in petrol or diesel, dry and refill the body to the mark with clean, unused engine oil. Grease the rubber ring face.
  3. Turn the water pump greaser down one turn. Check fan belt sag: 15 mm maximum.
  4. Oil the clutch release collar with 0.06 L of oil.
  5. Grease the front axle pin, king pins, the right-hand hydraulic linkage box nipple and the three-point linkage ball joints.
  6. Check the glass sediment bowl on the lift pump and drain oil from the tyre inflator.
  7. Battery electrolyte 15 mm over the plates; clean the terminals. Check brake fluid (≈0.3 L reservoir).

Engine flush and oil cleaner 2 (P2)

Engine · every 245 hours

P2, every 245 hours (875 L of fuel on a 3011), flushes the engine with flushing oil and washes oil cleaner 2, as well as the P1 jobs.

Step-by-step
  1. Drain the old oil. Take the elements out of the oil cleaner bowls.
  2. Fill the empty bowls with flushing oil and refit them, then fill the engine with flushing oil between the dipstick marks.
  3. Run the engine at idle for about 10 minutes.
  4. Drain the flushing oil from the engine and cleaners, refit the washed elements and fill with fresh engine oil.
  5. Check the clearance between the clutch release levers and the collar.

Fuel filter, coarse element 1 (P2)

Fuel · every 245 hours

P2, every 245 hours, renews the coarse element (marked 1) in the double fuel cleaner. Clean the glass sediment bowl of the pre-cleaner whenever dirt shows.

PartQtyNotesPart number
Fuel filter element 1 (coarse)1Check your handbookcheck your handbook
Step-by-step
  1. Close the fuel tap. Undo the centre-bolt nuts and lower the bowls.
  2. Wash the bowls and fit a new element 1 in the bowl marked 1 on the holder. Do not swap elements 1 and 2. Keep the bowl seals intact.
  3. Bleed: open the tap, loosen the sediment bowl clamp until it fills without bubbles, then retighten.
  4. Loosen both filter bleed screws and pump the lift pump by hand until air-free fuel flows; tighten the coarse filter screw first, pump a little more, then the fine one.
  5. Loosen the injection pump bleed screws and pump until air-free fuel flows; tighten left then right.

Tools: Spanners, Diesel for washing, Rags

Fuel filter fine element 2, valves, injectors, cooling flush (P3)

Fuel · every 490 hours

P3, every 490 hours, renews fine fuel element 2, checks the head bolts and valve clearances, checks injectors (set to 160 atm), checks toe-in (6–8 mm) and front wheel bearings, checks the hand brake and flushes the cooling system with clean water.

Step-by-step
  1. Fit a new fine element 2 as in the coarse filter task and bleed the fuel system.
  2. Check the cylinder head bolts are tight to the handbook torque.
  3. Engine cold: remove the valve covers, turn the engine until both valves of a cylinder are closed and set inlet 0.20 mm, exhaust 0.30 mm. The shorter rockers are the inlets.
  4. Have the injectors checked and set to 160 atm.
  5. Check front toe-in (6–8 mm) and front hub bearing play, and adjust the hand brake.
  6. Drain the cooling system and flush with clean water to wash out deposits, then refill.

Tools: Spanners, Feeler gauges, Torque wrench, Injector tester (or dealer), Hose

Gearbox oil change and outer final drives (P4)

Transmission · every 980 hours

P4, every 980 hours, changes and flushes the gearbox oil, cleans the hydraulic pump suction strainer and the engine oil pump strainer, changes the outer final drive oil and refills the front hub grease.

Known problems

Hours or litres of fuel

Zetor counts service in engine hours or litres of fuel used, whichever comes first. One meter hour is 96,000 engine revolutions.

Mesh oil cleaners

The engine oil cleaners are washable mesh-disc elements. Keep coarse (1) and fine (2) apart and dry them fully before refitting.

Running in

On a new or rebuilt engine the handbook changes the oil and cleans both oil cleaners at 35 hours, retorques the head (12 kgm) and sets the valves at the first P1.
