Daily checks before work

General · every 10 hours

The handbook's daily list: fuel leaks, engine oil, coolant level and cooling joints, radiator blockage, steering tank oil, clutch fluid, transmission and axle oil level, tyre pressure and wheel nuts, then warning lamps and brake function after starting.

Step-by-step
  1. Park level, stop the engine and take the key out.
  2. Check the fuel system for leaks, the engine oil on the dipstick, the coolant level, the radiators for clogging, and the hydrostatic steering tank and clutch fluid levels.
  3. Check the transmission oil level, the tyre pressures and wheel tightness, and the hitches.
  4. After starting check the oil pressure, charging and steering warning lamps, the steering circuit for leaks, and the tractor and trailer brakes.

Lubrication to the greasing plan

Chassis · every 50 hours

Every 50 hours the handbook has the tractor lubricated to its greasing plan and the cab filter elements checked for fouling. Points: front axle king pins (4), central pin (2), drive shaft couplings (2), hitch hook pin bearings (0 to 4), front three-point hitch cylinder pins (4), auxiliary hydraulic cylinder pins (2), lifting draw-bars (2), trailer hitch mouth (1), upper linkage bracket pins (2) and the coupling switching-off pin (2).

100-hour checks

General · every 100 hours

Every 100 hours: clean the radiator with air from the engine side, service the dry air cleaner (daily with front implements), check the oil level in the gearbox and final drive, the rear portals, the front PTO gearbox and the front axle reducers, drain condensate from the air reservoir, and clean and grease the battery terminals.

Step-by-step
  1. Blow the radiator and condenser clean from the engine side.
  2. Check the oil level in the gearbox, portals, front PTO gearbox and front axle, and top up if low.
  3. Drain the air reservoir, and clean and grease the battery terminals.

Tools: Compressed air (low pressure), Rag

Engine oil and filter change

Engine · every 500 hours or every year

Every 500 hours or 12 months, and first at 100 hours on a new or rebuilt engine (the chart shows changes at 100, 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 hours). The oil and the oil filter element go together. Use the low-ash L-SAPS oil: the handbook warns that oil with more sulphur shortens the particle filter's life.

Service inspections and valve checks

General · every 500 hours or every year

Zetor's service inspections: the first at 100 hours or 6 months, the second after another 400 hours (500 in total), then every 500 hours, never more than 12 months apart. The chart checks valve clearance every 2,000 hours and injectors every 3,000 hours.

Step-by-step
  1. Book the inspection with a Zetor dealer; they also check the control-unit software, V-belts, brakes, hitches and compressed air system.

Known problems

Use low-ash oil

The engine has a particle filter. The handbook warns that oil with higher sulphur content can shorten its life, so use L-SAPS 15W-40.

Air conditioning

The handbook says to run the air conditioning for at least 5 minutes once a month, even in winter, if it has not been used.
